Plugbeast!

Look what I found on the porch today! I stumbled upon a wild plugbeast!  These elusive, blind quadrupeds can occasionally be found under desks - usually near power strips.  Needless to say upon finding it I caught it in a jar and released it into a local electronics store where it will be happy and well nourished.

Or, well, in reality I discovered some ancient phone chargers in a drawer and decided that since they weren't much good at charging any phone I still own I might as well turn them into something useful.  And by useful I mean purely decorative with no real practical application.

Here's some process because I think that's neat:

Here I present to you the Abominable Adorable Snowman.

Yes indeed.

PHASE THREE: Continued

Log:  The experiment appears to be a success, production is moving along swimmingly.  Clones are being generated with fewer and fewer abnormalities.  Everything seems to be under control.  They appear, however, to be organizing themselves.  They no longer seem happy with being kept in cabinets and boxes.  I fear if their numbers continue to grow, violent revolt might be imminent.

They seem to have noticed me... I'll report back later.

PHASE THREE

Log:  Upon initial investigation clone 001 appears to be genetically stable.  Minor imperfections, bubbles in the code, will be easily smoothed and corrected for future efforts.  The creature will be left time to climatize, whereupon experiments in pigmentation may commence.  Ears to the ground folks, this might just work.

So I was coloring these in on the airplane.  The stewardess came by and I'm pretty sure she thought I was coloring a coloring book at first.

More Sketchbook Critters!

So here's some more sketchbook town.  I've been trying out new things, with varying degrees of success, but I think these are kind of fun.  They're done in a combination of paint markers, namely a white sharpie and the king of all markers: the HARDCORE marker.  I don't think it's possible to adequately articulate how much I like this marker.  I posted the businessmen at an unreasonably large size, which I recommend viewing.

Sketchbook and Some Casting Bits

And here are a couple little bits from a sculpture I'm in the middle of casting.

I regretted not taking more pictures of the casting process on my last piece, so I made certain to get some shots of some of the intermediate stages.  It's really pretty crazy stuff.  More on that to come shortly.

Assorted Additions

So! I did some re-shooting of the Sudden! Now with a little time laps-ey thingy! I've recorded it a couple times now, but I'm honestly still not sure how to get it not to look awful with the camera I have (it comes out all noisy (not sound noise, the other kind) and weird), so it might be a little before I manage to get that in order. Anyway, without further ado:

Annnnnnnnnnnd, I haven't posted in a little bit, sand I know re-shooting the Sudden doesn't really qualify as new content, so here are some train doodles of the important things in life: spacemen and little monsters.

Thesis Parade, Part Deux

This is Legs (Fig 1.1). He's distressed.

Our protagonist (we have one of those you know, this is a story) on his journey through the woods (what woods you ask? you know, the woods) finds Legs (amongst many parenthetical statements) in this state, distraught!

All of Legs's friends, you see, have swam across the river, but Legs is too scared to try to cross. A previous attempt to swim (Fig 1.2) resulted in a terrifying failure!

But our protagonist knows better! Keenly noting the tremendous length of Legs's legs (see all Figures) he is quick to point out a serious oversight.

"But you're so tall! You can probably just wade across! Have you tried?"

"I could? Hey! You're right! I can!" And so he did. (Fig 1.3)
